Earthquake proofing

Yes, I live in California! Although we don’t have earthquakes very often, there are other disasters like me tripping headlong into a working orchidarium. I know you have that “Oh No!” look on your face just like McCauley Culkin in Home Alone.

Oops! I tried to save it by holding on.

So off to Home Depot to buy some heavy duty steel L-bars and secure them with bolts to the metal table frame (don’t forget to order a new terrarium)!

Attaching to the top of the table
and another bolt at the bottom
Heavy duty 2″ velcro.

And put another 36″ long strip of velcro at the top of the orchidarium, just so it is going NOWHERE!

Luckily the only thing that broke was the glass terrarium, oh, and my luck!

Now would be a good time to add background scenery to the back of the orchidarium. Here is the one I used with a jungle scene that is 36″x36″ and water resistant. I attached it on the outside of the orchidarium, but with a short 2″ strip on the inside to cover where the velcro is attached to the top of the glass enclosure.
